At Century Dental, we customize your dental care to meet your unique oral health needs and goals. That means no two visits are the same.

However, there are certain things you should know or expect if you’re a new patient at our dental office. Of course, we are anxious to meet you and can’t wait to invite you into the Century Dental Family.

What Items to Bring to Your First Dental Appointment

On your first dental visit, we recommend bringing the following items:

  1. Identification
  2. Health history
  3. Any recent x-rays
  4. Any potential co-pays
  5. Your dental insurance card

As far as dental insurance, we are in network with several providers, including but not limited to:

  • Aetna PPO
  • Ameritas
  • Anthem
  • Assurant
  • BCBS
  • Carefirst PPO
  • Cigna PPO
  • Delta Dental PPO
  • Dominion Choice PPO
  • GEHA
  • Guardian PPO
  • Health Allies
  • Humana
  • Lincoln Financial
  • METLIFE
  • Mutual of Omaha
  • Principal
  • Prudential
  • Sunlife
  • United Concordia PPO
  • United HealthCare PPO

If your insurance is not listed here, call our dental office. We add new providers regularly! And we’ll file out-of-network on your behalf.

What Questions to Ask

If you have past x-rays or information about a previous dental condition, you can ask your new dentist if the situation has improved or if you need additional care. You can also ask about our various treatment options or anything you’d like.

We love welcoming new patients to our dental practice and answering their questions. We want you to be educated about your oral health and encourage you to ask away!

Your Initial Dental Examillustrated tooth wearing a stethoscope

Your initial exam includes an oral cancer screening. We also do a periodontal check and typically take a new series of x-rays to get you started. You may relax for a gentle but thorough teeth cleaning if time allows.

What Happens Next

If your dentist finds any issues during your exam, we’ll talk to you about the treatment options so you can make an informed choice about further care. If no problems are found, we typically schedule you to revisit us in six months.
